Rhinoplasty
Since the nose sits at the center of the face, it is one of the most striking and noticeable features we see. For a man or woman who experiences a poorly shaped or sized nose, self-image and confidence can be improved with a more attractive nose size or shape. Rhinoplasty includes sculpting the bone, cartilage, and tissue in the nose to reach a more aesthetically pleasing profile while achieving facial harmony and balance. With over 20 years of experience and multiple board certifications, Dr. Alexander is uniquely qualified to perform your rhinoplasty, and he strives to bring you the highest quality of care with your procedure.
What Can Rhinoplasty Achieve?

Enhanced Profile
Many men and women are born with poorly shaped or sized noses. Rhinoplasty can remove and correct:
- Humps or depressions on the bridge of the nose
- Wide bridges
- Misshapen or bulbous nasal tips
- Flared nostrils
Facial Symmetry
By improving the size and shape of your nose, you can naturally achieve facial balance and harmony, allowing you to gain confidence in your overall appearance.
Incision Options
Open Rhinoplasty
Dr. Alexander’s preferred method is open rhinoplasty, which is considered to be the most precise way to perform rhinoplasty surgery. With this technique, the incision is made across the columella (the tissue between the nostrils); then, he sculpts the bone, cartilage, and tissue. In some situations, additional cartilage may be taken from the septum to augment the nose before the tissues are redraped and the incisions closed. Open rhinoplasty allows for full visibility for the surgeon throughout the procedure, which means a more precise result.
Closed Rhinoplasty
In closed rhinoplasty, the incisions are inside the nasal passages to sculpt the bone, cartilage, and tissue. However, Dr. Alexander rarely uses this technique due to the limited visibility allowed.
Concerns
Recovery
After your rhinoplasty, you will experience some temporary bruising and swelling, which will subside over the following weeks. Patients typically feel ready to return to work after a week or two and can resume all normal activities after four to six weeks.
Scars
As with any surgery, there will be some scarring at the incision sites. In open rhinoplasty, there will be a scar between the nostrils, though in closed rhinoplasty, the scars will be inside the nasal passages. However, these scars are small and typically fade with time.
Cost
Dr. Alexander hand-tailors each patient’s procedure to match his or her individual goals. The cost of rhinoplasty varies depending on the techniques used as well as anesthesia fees and the extent of the surgery. Dr. Alexander and his staff will be able to provide you an accurate cost estimate during your rhinoplasty consultation.

Although patients younger than 18 may desire cosmetic correction to their nose, it is important to wait until that age to ensure there won’t be any further natural changes to the nose.
